I am a retired online school teacher. I love family history. Since 2007, I have spent much of my time providing part-time support for the world's largest free family history site https://familysearch.org This is very rewarding. I have helped others with the Family Tree and related FamilySearch products.
In 2010-2018 I served in the Edmonton Riverbend Family History Centre. I have a FHC blog at Bill's Family History Center Blog For information the Latter-day Saints and family history click https://www.comeuntochrist.org/

Yesterday, I looked up some Ontario births, marriages and deaths (Watsons, Ing, Hatherleys) on Ancestry.ca ... a very worthwhile service for anyone doing research in Ontario, Canada. Today I received and email from a family member that I had not been in touch with for 14 years. She had just disappeared and no one seemed to know where she had gone. What a thrill to hear from her! Then my mother telephoned to tell me that my nephew and his wife had a new baby. How exciting! We knew the baby was due, but not about its arrival. A 10-pound boy ... good job Kim!

This past two days, I have been working on the free website for the Ukrainian Genealogical and Historical Society. Last week I switched to frames to keep the menu on-screen at all times. Moving to a paid website account eliminated the sometimes tacky advertisements. http://ukrainiangenealogist.tripod.com Check it out!

Yesterday I changed http://ukrainiangenealogist.tripod.com to a framed layout, in response to a request to have an easy way to return to the home page. Three of the links are off-site, and frames were the only way I could think of to achieve this. I also added a hit counter at the request of the president of the UGHS (Ukrainian Genealogical and Historical Society), but I am not really satisfied with its appearance. I may try a different one. I am back to using FrontPage Express as my main webpage editor. It certainly proved valuable for changing to a framed layout. One of the ads displayed on the site by tripod.com looks rather "cheap", but that is the cost of having a free site. I had good success last Wednesday at the FHC, as I searched for Ontario births and marriages on ancestry.ca I intend to spend some time pursuing them today also.

Well, we had a wonderful Christmas. All of the children and grandchildren were home for Christmas day. I had a 2-week break from the Family History Center, but I am back again today. A surprise was on New Year's Day, when my brother Lloyd showed up with an LCD monitor. He had switched to a 19 inch model, and gave me his nearly new 17 inch model. He also helped me as I installed a new 160 GB hard drive and installed my software on it. It took most of the day. But it solved my connectivity problem. I can now use dial-up Internet access without crashing Windows. Yahoo! We visited my mother and Aunt Vi on December 29th. I was able to copy William John Hatherley's funeral program. And they provided me with other Ing family information. Yesterday and today I did some more research on Will's Hatherley ancestry in Devon, England.
